The House is a 3 bedroom vacation home, tastefully decorated, furnished and close to our most popular 10 man cabins. The
master bedroom has a king size bed. "Western bedroom #2"
has a queen size bed and a beautiful view to the meadow. The 3rd bedroom, the
"bunkhouse," has 2 bunkbeds, one having a full size mattress for its lower bed.
The dining and living room area are combined in one large comfortable room with large oak
dining table and chairs, early American antiques, and woodstove. The House has two beautiful full
baths. The House has short private driveway and plenty of additional parking space. Also, vacation home
has adjacent grassy fenced areas for pets.
The House is available on a nightly or weekly basis May through September.
Our cabins are "sleeping" cabins which have bunkbeds and
mattresses - you must bring along your own linens or sleeping bags. Cabin guests
use the nearby campground showers, restrooms, and laundry. All cabins have
electricity provided. The smaller one-room log cabins can accommodate up to 6
guests having one large double bed bunkbed and one regular size bunkbed. The
larger two room cabins can accommodate 10 guests having combinations of bunk
beds. Cabins can be reserved from May through September. One thought to keep in
mind about the , House, and cabins: from the House, it’s a short stones throw to
our two largest sleeping cabins which can accommodate 10 guests per cabin (maybe
not 10 adults). We’ve had many successful family reunions where the House and
one or two cabins were reserved. Also, from the House to it’s a bit longer
stones throw but it’s still a stones throw. May we recommend, if your group is
larger, that you consider reserving the house for your get-together and maybe
even a cabin or two. Our campground is adjacent to the House, resting in a
beautiful meadow flanked on all sides by the higher hills and the whispering
pines - scenic as the day is long and just as quiet. Our neighbor to the south,
Circle B Ranch (chuck wagon suppers & trail rides) - both a step away. Boating,
swimming, and fishing at Pactola Lake are only 2 miles to our south. Crazy Horse
Memorial and the old west shootouts at Hill City are only minutes away too! Just
100 yards down our beautiful country road you can hike the Centennial Trail. A
bit further, visit the old mining town of Silver City, not a tourist center by
any means but, chock full of nature trails, fishing holes (the locals prefer
Jenny Gulch and Rapid Creek), abandoned gold and silver mines, and a host of
wildlife (sorry, no bear in the Black Hills!). The air is clean and the water
pure. Direct sun arrives long after daybreak and by late afternoon we're in the
cool shade. Guests of the House are welcome always to grab a bundle of
firewood at the General Store, pick a vacant campsite and picnic table, enjoy a
starlit campfire, and roast a marshmallow or two. The campground is open May
through September. Our General Store has a full line of groceries, snack bar and
western-style gift shop. We serve breakfast specials every morning. The playground is close by and we
have billiard tables for the young at heart. Coffee is always fresh and free at the
General Store. Please know that we take pride in our hospitality and pledge to do
everything possible to see that your visit is an enjoyable and memorable event.
Thank you for considering Whispering Pines Campground and Lodging. We look forward
to hearing from you and the possibility of hosting your family get-together or personal vacation.
